The Gun was the first real adventure comic I came up with, inspired by a concoction of 2000AD, small glimpses of edgelord 90's American comics (Lady Justice #6 showed up randomly in the village newsagent! Imagine that happening today, you're lucky if they have The Beano),Andy McNab et al, James Bond, Commando and Doom. It was about a badass dude in World War 3 who went around blowing enemy soldiers away by the ton and usually destroying some huge base or vehicle. He usually ended up on solo missions, but would sometimes be in actual battles. I knew nothing about the Military, mind you, beyond the fact that it has "commanders" who give orders, just like in the Command & Conquer games.

Anyway, the new version of The Gun (following on from numerous stalled re-makes) is a tad more down to earth. It's set in World War 3, fought from 2020-2023 as a knock-on effect of the great revolution of 2014. Almost no nukes are used, as both sides of the war (the United Nations Army and Intersoc, or "International Society") beleive they are trying to "rescue" the "captive population" of the other. And also they used secret orbital strike weapons to destroy silos in the early days of the conflict, anyway.

The Gun is going to be a mainstay of The Red, White & Blue, my main print comic, so the online version will always be kept two issues behind the print version.
