The Red, White & Blue began early "development" in 2005 or 2006. I was spurred on by reading about Sexton Blake in issue 235 of the Judge Dredd Megazine. Up until then I was all over the "grim 'n gritty, dark, realistic social satire" of 2000AD and the Meg, considered it unfortunate that Britain hadn't "been ready" for the woke garbage in Crisis, and so on...

That Sexton Blake article changed all that. Overnight I made the pivot to an interest in traditional "Boys' Own" adventures and, barring a brief flirtation with wanting to create a horror-focused "Penny Dreadful" called The Horrific Picture-Paper, with more of that "dark social satire"*, I settled on unoffically continuing Sexton Blake's home paper, the Union Jack, in my own way...

*-Most of what was made for this, which wasn't much, found it's way into a small comic called "Stuff From Before I Grew Up"... which I should probably shove up a PDF of. I only printed about 20!
