The best British story-paper for boys!Though you'd be surprised how good and "boys' own" some of the stuff in My Weekly Pocket Novels is! Story papers ain't just for grannies anymore! The Trident is my text-only story-paper*, created to recall the glory days of the likes of The Gem, The Boys' Friend, the Union Jack, Adventure and so on. Each issue will be 24-or-so (not totally decided yet!) pages of written adventure stories with block illustrations, as well as world-building, interesting articles and maybe even some short comics! There was a previous "series" (of one issue!) of The Trident, concurrent with series 1 of the Red. White and Blue, so the new version will be series 2. The previous single issue used Sexton Blake, a copyrighted character, so the new version will be a total reboot. Each issue will feature... - One long, complete story. These may feature recurring characters, but each will stand alone. - A shorter complete story. These may feature a bit more continuity, but once again, each one can be enjoyed on it's own. - An ongoing serial. - A "world building" page with diagrams, articles or profiles of things from around the Felneyverse. Basically a print supplement to the Story Info section of this site. I hope to make 2-3 issues each year, in "off months" between issues of the Red, White & Blue. I appreciate that a text-filled magazine is a "hard sell" in this day and age, hence the mostly-complete stories, allowing readers to just buy the odd issue here and there. *-Aka Penny Dreadful (like Sweeney Todd), Dime Novel (like Nick Carter) or Pulp (like The Shadow). |
