Review

Located in a huge building with four maze-like floors full of bars. It's on floor 2. Rather nondescript sign that doesn't exactly scream "anime bar", it just looks like handwriting.

I guess when these places are first built, the first tenants of a bar have it set up the way they want it. When they close down the next tenant can remodel it or just rent it "ready furnished" and put their own touches on it. Anyway, that's clearly happened here, judging by the cosy, dark decor and velour seats, this was once a sophisticated whisky / cocktail - and - cigars bar. I imagine the original master wore a tux and shook up cocktails while recommending cigars, as soft, classy jazz discreetly played from a high-end record player. And now it's an anime bar, with the same dark, cosy decor but plastered in anime posters, the cabinets behind the bar are full of figures and lit with pulsating rainbow LEDs, and the behind the bar area is now dominated by a gigantic TV, which plays live concerts by voice actresses and singers of anime theme tunes.

Anyway this has a somewhat odd pricing structure, where 1 alcohol drink is ¥1100, 2 is ¥1700 etc...* but then soft drinks have their own pricing structure too. Also beer and some other things are charged an extra ¥100 for some reaso.I had one beer and one oolong tea, and got charged... I don't remember. Oops.

The master is pretty friendly, and google-translates things to ask you. Two other guys were there when I was, nobody else came or went. I can imagine it's classy cosiness will make it a welcoming place in winter!

*-2025 prices, the photo of the menu above is from 2023!

Getting There

Close to Dotonbori. Also fairly near the Dotonbori Don Quijote, the one with the famous obling ferris "wheel". The building it's in has large blue signs in the entrance area with all the names of the bars it contains.

Details

Has mounting increasing prices depending on what kind of drink you have (alcohol or non-alcohol). Dunno how it's handled if you "mix".

In Conclusion

A cosy place. I might visit again but go there first, and earlier! Rating may change.
