Review When I saw this I thought it was a maid cafe. It's, er, actually about 50% of a maid cafe. It's also bloody wierd. While calling itself an otaku bar (or a "light otaku bar", whatever that's meant to mean) it's theme is rather half-arsed, just a few random figures stuck up on some shelves at the back. The place is big, but rather than having a bar and some tables, there's a huge empty area behind the bar that just seems like wasted space. A lot of staff, though, so at least they can move around efficiently back there. Like I said, it's about half a maid cafe. Some of the girls were dressed up, but others just had normal clothes. It functioned kind of like one too, "my" server quickly became the one with the nicest legs (and who was showing the most), so they got my number pretty quick. I told her I was looking forward to Kansai Comitia, which was happening the next month. She had no idea what I was talking about. Looking around me, the rest of the clientele seemed to be somewhat socially awkward-seeming guys... paying through the nose to be served by some hotties who nonetheless aren't "intimidatingly" dressed too sexily. They're playing you for mugs, mates. You can't take pictures inside, except "of the drinks". I also snapped some artwork that was pinned up in the bogs, too, though. Hah! |

Getting There From Nipponbashi subway station, come out of exit 2, and go north. Cross a bridge and it's "in front of you" in a triangular building in front of an oddly-large and empty pedestrian area. Spider-Man is keeping watch over the shop next door.

Details Just under ¥3000 per hour for the first hour, about ¥1700 for subsequent half-hours. Oddly, the prices aren't gender-segregated. All-you-can-drink in that time. If you want to buy a staff member a drink it's ¥1100 for whatever one. Also they'll take a picture of you with a staff member for ¥1100 using an instant camera. |
