Review

Connected to Subculture Entertainment Round 2.

When I first found this place on Google, the first listed review said "the amount of alcohol you get for your money is insane", which perked me up good and proper. Actually this was the third of three bars I reviewed in a single night, and I stumbled upon it almost by accident, so initial impressions may be coloured by drunkenness. Coloured or not, those initial impressions were that it's fuckin' awesome. Buut I went a second time and the staff just all kind of talked among themselves and it was a bit boring. It's more fun when it's a little busy and/or the staff are drunker!

The staff were all a top laugh, not so good at English, but willing to try. One guy was better than the others... I seem to remember. They wanted to get in my pictures and mug when I was trying to take photos of the place XD. The bar is long and "narrow", but still big, There's several comfy sofas and seats down the length, and then a "stage" at the end with decks. The master started DJing later in the night, it was very loud. There's also some videogames to play and an extensive collection of figures, merch and empty bottles down the red-lit walls.

Anyway because it was late at night, the other customers there, who seemed to know the staff well, were in a greater or lesser degree of pissed. One woman started throwing up later (when the master ill-advisedly started DJing with really loud, bass-heavy music), and they had to get her outside on the fire escape. I helped to clear up / deliver water, while her not-much-better-off friend apologised to me like crazy. Two lesser-drunk regulars were also there, and cool to talk to. In keeping with Round 2, there were also really hot. What is it about these places?

Getting There

Come out of Namba Subway Station exit 14, turn back on yourself and cross a bridge. Take the next right, and go straight, under the Soemoncho sign, and past the famous "oval ferris wheel" Donki. Pass a Holiday Inn, then turn left. Go straight until you see a blue "Values" sign on the left. Turn left there, and right in front of you is the giant white sign of the Galaxie building (there are several of them! Get the right one!). Go up to floor 4.

Details

¥500 for bar seating, ¥1000 for sofa seats... is what some old review said. I think I paid ¥2000 for one beer, one oolong tea, and a bar seat, but I later went and sat at a sofa too? Needs further investigation. And better remembering!

In Conclusion

Depends on the night! I've been 3 times now and two of them were cool,so it's been bumped to a 4-star above-average.
