He had British friends, whom he'd made on camping trips in his youth, and used these contacts to pass on Nazi secrets. Character Origin:

The name of this character came to me in a dream, which was a bizarre mix of Manga, The Man From UNCLE (and such-like 60's Spy-Fi), GTA3 and 60's British comics (bits of it were drawn in Frank Bellamy's style). The dream was set in the then-future of 2010, and maybe in Tokyo. Eugene had a transforming Toyota MR2 mk2 (quite the banger in 2010), and used it to infiltrate an enemy base.

I had vague ideas of what to do with the character, and began to plan a story set in 2010 or 2012, where he'd foil some terrorist plot, maybe at the 2012 Olympics (which hadn't been set up then, so I put them in Germany). Nothing ever came of it, though. One day I sat down at the desk and decided to "just draw something cool". I put Eugene into the 1950's and made him a former double-agent.

His apperance didn't change over all of the different ideas. It's still as I saw him in the original dream, only that was in a Bellamy-esque style I'll never be good enough to replicate. I guess he also looks a bit like Harry Exton from the 2000AD strip Button Man, too.

Little Known Fact:

His "duelling scar" was actually from a plane crash.
