General Info:

The version of the Fortress Class seen in older Galactic Conquest / UFO War strips. It was a gigantic jack-of-all-trades ship that carried fighters or bombers, ground troops and landing craft, could cloak, had many powerful weapons and could also resupply other ships. Some even had giant holes in so they could dock and repair smaller capital ships.

Variants:

Each one had the designation "alpha", I think there was supposed to be 20, but I don't remember for sure.

Origin / Inspiration:

I didn't actually create this, a friend at school did, for his own space-operatic setting. For some reason, he decided to "give" it to me. I don't remember what he called it, I'm pretty sure Fortress Class was my own name (probably inspired by star forts). The early ones with holes in were his idea, I removed them later after showing it to my cousin, who promptly ripped the piss out of it.

In the friend's setting, the Fortress Class was used by "The Authority", who sound like the bad guys, but I think they were actually meant to be like the Star Trek Federation. Also their logo was "TO" because the friend thought it was spelled "Orthority". He had a lot of time off school.
