General Info:

A small Rootes Group car built in the 60's and 70's. Presumably to compete with the Mini, but quite a bit different, it was a three-box saloon, for a start, and rear-engined!

It was also badge-engineered as the Singer Chamois (continuing the naming theme from the earlier Singer Gazelle), and the Sunbeam... something else.

In the Gamma Universe, it was returned to production in Homonia in 2047, along with it's badge-engineered counterparts. The Singer is the cheaply-furnished no-frills version, the Hillman a more plush version (relatively speaking) and the Sunbeam a sportier version. There was talk of a Triumph version, with a supercharged version of the engine from the Rocket III bike in the rear. But selling the general public a car that can do wheelies was considered a bit much, even for Homonia.

I had an awesome dream once where I had one of these. It was when I was at CRC, and fancied the fuck out of this short, longish-haired, possibly French guy I saw around. Anyway in the dream he was my boyfriend, and we were buzzing round a city with wide, empty roads in one. Shame it had red traffic lights everywhere. Also in the dream his hair was down and he was gothed up. Later when I went to uni I met a guy called Dale, who had longish hair he wore down, and was gothed up. I took this dream to mean I was ☆destined☆ to be with Dale (and to own a Hillman Imp)... yeah, that went well. Oddly Classic cars were also involved in the dream where I finally got over Dale - he'd met someone else who had a dark metallic blue VW Beetle on Alleycats, and they got shot. I watched it happen from a building that looked like a bad Doom level.
