General Info:

An Indian car based on the British Morris Oxford series III. It became the longest-running production car in the world, but finally faltered in 2014 (though, unlike the Mini, definitely not because of safety standards, have you seen India?). For most of it's life, it had a 1.5l Morris engine, but later adopted a 1.7l Isuzu engine, derivatives of which remained it's standard engine for over a century.

In the Gamma universe, the 2014 halt to production was only temporary, as it went back into production thanks to the wave of nationalism that swept the world in the 2014 revolution. In 2042, production had slowed to a crawl, as Indians didn't want them any more. Homonia, on the other hand (the same homonia getting a lot of Indian immigrants), was enforcing a "good-looking, simply-built cars only" regime, and the government-run motor corportation bought up the Hindustan name. The car became fully Homonian, produced in the country and running on hydrogen, though some were exported back to India. In 2180, production of most wheeled cars ceased, but the Ambassador remained in very limited production, selling a few units in Homonia and India, until aliens invaded earth in 2315.

The Homonian Leyland corporation also owned the Morris name, so Ambassadors were also "badge engineered" as Morris Oxfords.
