General Info:

The last gasp of Badge Engineering, this was built by MG Rover from the late 90's until they went bankrupt in 2005. It was one of the best Rovers built in thier modern (post BL) era, though still plagued by build quality issues. Issues that didn't affect cars built in the UK by Ford, Nissan, Toyota, BMW etc... which really makes you wonder. Were the workers at those factories any less "militant union"? Was there another reason behind the apparently deliberate sabotage of a British-owned company that was not seen at foreign-owned ones?

After MG Rover collapsed, a version was built in China under the name Roewe. Thanks to "safety concerns", Nanjing Automotive were banned from importing the car into Great Britain. What was the political affliation of the people behind that decision?

In the Gamma Universe, it is put back into production after The Great Revolution, with it's original styling (seperate, twin headlamps), but more reliable and with an even more 'retro' interior. This version remains in production up until World War 3, then re-enters production a few years afterwards. The post-war version is a predominantly-electric hybrid (with only a small 'generator' engine to charge the batteries). As the price of petrol increases still further, even these become too expensive to run. It would be too expensive to develop a fully-electric version, and so it is cancelled.

In 2044, the Homonian Motor Company, having bought the Rover and MG names, puts a copy of the twentieth century version into production once again, but with a different range of engines, and run on Hydrogen gas (burned by internal combustion). As Homonia never updates it's car designs, this motor stays in production for well over a century, until the plummeting price of anti-gravity technology makes wheeled cars a burden.

The original version is one of my favourite-looking cars of all time, so I include them in the background of stories when I can. It is the most 'modern' car built by the Homonian Motor Company, for as long as that country is insular and ultra-nationalist.
