Section 28 was an old law which said that homosexuality could not be "promoted" in British schools. I never put my teacher on the spot like that, though. I had a very sheltered childhood; I didn't even know homosexuality existed at primary school, and at secondary school you didn't dare mention anything "gay" out loud. |
