BOYS' OWN ACTION!The Red, White & Blue will be my main print comic. There have been two previous "series" of it, so the next version will be "Series 3". About half of the material in the first four will be reprinted (though with some parts redrawn, and a full re-letter). The rest will be all-new. After issue 5, everything will be new. The RWB is intended to recall various great British comics of the 20th century. Mainly the Union Jack (1893 - 1932), The Magnet (1908 - 1940), the New Hotspur (1959 - 1981) and Action (1976 - 1977). With some input from the styles and stories of other comics, too, such as The Boys' Friend, Adventure, The Schoolgirl's Own, Girl's Crystal, Modern Boy, Eagle, Commando, Battle, Roy of the Rovers, Jinty, 2000AD and Misty. Each issue will usually feature... -A traditional-style comic serial. -A complete detective story about Norman Saxon. -A more "hard-hitting" comic serial. -A text serial, usually set in an old-fashioned boarding school. I'm hoping to make it bi-monthly, with a different one of my other print comics published in the months in between. There will also be RWB "Annuals" (probably every other year), with new and reprinted stories from all of my (family-friendly!) print comics. |
