This bar is completely unrelated to the Guild on Dotonbori! That's part of the Mofuru group of ripoff "maid cafes with alcohol". Way back when, I only knew of the existence of the Dotonbori Guild, not where it was. I walked past the sign for this place, and just assumed this was it.
Later, I found the actual Guild on Dotonbori. I didn't know what this place was, after that, assuming it to be a normal bar. Later on I idly Google Maps'd it, and it had a review saying "If you are a weeb, go here!", which perked me up good and proper. I tried to go once, but it was closed, so I, er, sat on it for about 8 months, and finally tried again on December 30th 2025.
It looks a bit like a live house inside, and has "waitress service", the (rather cute) staff bring drinks to you. In the middle (when I went), they had some trestle tables set up down the middle of the room, with a random variety of chairs dragged up to them, making it rather like drinking in a jumble sale.
On the stage there's decks and a full sound system. Staff members and customers will periodically get up and do karaoke on there, with the sound system set up as if you're watching a live band... which does, of course, make talking impossible. When they're not playing, there's no music, so be prepared for the volume level to keep rising and falling.
Getting There
Come out of exit 1A of Ebisucho Station, cross the road and go left. Or come out of Exit 1B and turn right. Look out for the shiny silver "Infomation" board. Go down the corridor with white and green marble, then take the lift up to floor 6.
Details
¥1000 per hour charge and ¥600 per beer. Drink slowly!
Getting them to tell me the hourly charge was a bit of an effort too. The woman said (roughly translated):
"Do you understand the system? We have a system... it's ¥600 per drink and each hour the charge is... how did you find this place?"
With that explained, she carries on...
"We have a charge system. One hour... one time... one hour"
Eventually I just had to snap "1000円, 2000円, what? ...fuck'n 'ell", to finally get her to tell me the actual charge. "Fuck'n 'ell" is a phrase that gaijin use a lot in Japan.
Anyway, I had one drink, and was there less than one hour, and got charged.... ¥1600! No bullshit secret extra charges!
In Conclusion
They closed early the night I went... because it was December 30th, and I guess they wanted to prepare for the next night's countdown party. Score may go up on a future visit!
