Review I found this place via the usual "just wandering about" technique, then just kind of forgot it existed! There's other bars in it's area, but it's pretty well away from the usual drinkin' districts. Anyway, on the night the Misono went down I was both broke, and not really in the mood for the club electronica stuff they were going to play in there on it's last night... so I came here instead.
Walked over that way later, though. The lights soon to be extinguished forever. Also, a day or two before I was in an "adding chain" on Instagram, and was friends-of-friends with the mama, through the master at Warp Room. Given the size of the facade of this place, you'd expect it to be absolutely tiny inside. It's hardly big, but bigger than you might expect! It's run by a married couple, they like videogames, and sometimes you can play on the big screen over the bar. I said I liked the original Starfox (aka Starwing) and the master played it on the big TV. He got pretty far, considering he probably hasn't played it since the 90's. The prices are decent, especially in these trying, post-corona times, and there's no cover charge! A real rarity today. Beer is the same as cocktails, which is also unusual. They also do a special cocktail for a sen, which is amazing! |

Getting There In the series of small alleys that used to be "Osaka's Radio Kaikan", but now is turning into a hip, cool area of shisha bars, coffee houses and mini-galleries. It's towards the southern end of Denden Town "proper". Not far from Mandarake.

Details No cover charge (at least when I went!), alcohol is ¥800, beer, whisky, cocktails alike, though the glasses are pretty small. The beers are small cans of Super Dry. Non-alcohol is ¥600, "cast drinks" are a flat 800... but this isn't a hostess bar, so you won't get pressured. The special cocktail is oolong-tea-and-syrup flavour, it costs ¥1000 but is worth having at least once! |

In Conclusion This art style reminds me of something else, but I can't think what! Maybe a picture I saw in Jan Kounen? It's a nice place, kinda quiet when I went, due to be a bit more out-of-the-way (though still within central Osaka). Apparently on event nights it can get rammed, though! |
