Otaku Bar Review

Review

When I first found this place, I thought it was crazily expensive and accused them of being theives. Actually, since then I've been to various other otaku bars with rip-off prices, and this one isn't so bad now. Still expensive compared to my favourites, mind you. Also, this one is in Teradacho, which, while on the Osaka Loop Line, is kind of out-of-the-way for the typical tourist.

Anyway, the best way to describe is is "colourful", there's coloured lights everywhere, and even fabric posters which remind me very much of 16-Bit Sensation draped over the lights!

It's not technically an otaku bar as such, but a "Concept Cafe", or Concafe. The concept here being a gamergirl's room. There's what looks like a fancy gaming PC set up with whirring fans, rainbow lights, and even an anime figure inside, but I'm not sure it's actually a real PC, just decoration! They also have a Super Famicom set up, a Wii U, numerous Switches and even a Hello Kitty Mahjongg board, if you feel a bit more traditional!

As Concafe are also kind of maid cafes, their Line account tells you which of the "cast" will be there on which day. It's pretty much always "Mocha", though. She's good fun.

Getting There

Turn right out of the main entrance from Teradacho station (the one with Ikki Taiyaki) and just go straight, until you see the purple lights. If you see flower shops, you're at the wrong entrance!

Details

¥900 per hour plus ¥500 per drink. The beers are big!

Open from 11:00PM to 5:00AM, but not every day.

In Conclusion

A good laugh. I'll go again because it's fairly close to me.
