Otaku bar review

Review

A big place for an otaku bar, it's in the basement of a building and pretty cosy, even with those bare concrete walls! Has board games, video games, karaoke (charged) and DJ events. There's decks set up on the bar. Nice sofas and tables, but it looks like these get cleared away when there's a DJ event on (the master showed me a video). It's kind of dark inside, my photos make it look brighter than it is, good HDR on the new phone.

The master was friendly and curious about where I was from and the anime and stuff I like. He was just on the right side of annoying, don't go here if you want a quiet drink. Mind you I was the only customer at the time, later some other guys showed up and they were playing wierd games together. The mama speaks a bit more English than the master, but neither of them knows much. They were playing this long video of the most popular anime through the years, with little snippets of the theme songs. But there was also other music on "over" that... which I guess was being played through the Karaoke system when it wasn't in use.

Also a lot of the other people who seemed to be regulars were really hot. Just sayin'

2025 Note: They now have some pushy staff you prod you into buying them overpriced drinks and don't just leave you alone. IE it's morphing from a fun otaku bar into a lame host/ess club. Score docked to reflect this. Some really hot guys still work there though.

Getting There

Come out of Nippon(m)bashi station exot 2, and go north. Eventually you'll find a pay car park with a yellow sign. Next to this is a narrow alley with lots of vending machines. Go down there.

Details

¥1200 "base" cover charge. You can pay that and pay for drinks seperately, or pay the base charge and a "Nomihodai" all-you-can-drink, which appears to be 1000 for 2 hours, 3000 for 3 hours and 4000 for over 4 hours. You'd have to confirm that, mind. I didn't do the nomihodai because I "wasn't going to drink much" (hah). Also apparently the nomihodai is only available after midnight, and I imagine they're looking to close by 4:00. Nite owls only!

In Conclusion

A nice place, but them costs can mount up if you don't go for the Nomihodai, like I didn't!
