General Info: |
In the Alpha and Beta universes (aka, real life and nearly real life), the Rover 25 was a badge-engineered copy of the mid-90's Honda Civic. After Rover went bankrupt in 2004, the name was bought by a Chinese company called SAIC. SAIC released a small sports saloon in the UK, called the MG6, but it didn't sell very well, and was soon cancelled. In the Gamma Universe, after the great revolution of 2014, the new British Leyland reverse-engineered the MG6 into a slightly-smaller saloon, with Rover 75-type styling cues, and put it into production as the Rover 25. It had electric motors with a small, diesel-powered generator to help charge the batteries. Later on it became fully electric. Like it's older counterpart, the Rover 25 was badge-engineered as the MG ZX. The Rover 25 mk2 remained in greatly-reduced production during World War 3, most of the ones built went to the military, as staff cars and "runabouts". It became available to civilians again in 2024, but production didn't last much longer, it was replaced by newer designs. When Homonian Leyland bought up the British car makers' names wholesale, and started producing copies of much older models, it didn't want the Rover 25 (it was too modern). |

AK66JZN - Sue Jackson has a pre-war one in The Gun (she isn't an officer, so hasn't been assigned a staff car, it's one she bought for herself before the war started). |
