General Info: |
Designed in the early 24th century as "the fighter pilot's fighter" by XXXX, cousin of a fighter pilot in the Nirisian space forces, the Slasher proved it's worth in the first Great Galactic War. It's "back to basics" approach was inspired by the Spitfire, an old fighter plane from Earth, and also by Mini and Lotus cars. Indeed, the "Slasher", a type of sword-whip, has a name that sounds like "Spitfire" in the universal language of Nirisan. In a world of large, powerful but sluggish and complicated fighters, the Slasher could fly rings around it's enemies, worrying away thier shields with bursts of un-guided fire. The Starkill invasion of the First Great Galactic War was characterised by sweeps by huge wings of 50+ light, fast fighters. The fighters of most other planets simply couldn't resist them, but the Slasher came into it's own. In the early stages of the war, it was boasted that one Slasher was worth 3 Starkill "Hadies" fighters, especially as Starkill pilots were ill-trained and often over confident. |

Variants: |
As the war progressed, a number of changes were made to the design. Pre-production model - Built on an advanced "3D Printer" after-hours at Tcoz' development workshop Mk1 - The first production model, equips a few squadrons of the Nirisan military, after a skirmish against pirates, it is adopted as the standard fighter mk3 - A number of improvements to shields and firepower results in this version, the one built in the largest numbers mk4 - The first to be fitted with miniaturised missles, especially designed with the Slasher, and it's target of Starkill fighters, in mind. mk5 - Many more improvements, including additional missile racks, "ultra focus" lasers, double-layer shields, plus more powerful 'mass manipulators', to counteract the extra weight and give it the same agility as the mk1 |
