This was the second convention of my epic "run" of three big cons at Intex Osaka in January 2024. This was also the medium-sized one, occupying hall 4 and 5 of the centre. Actually the tables selling comics could all have fit into one hall, really, so the actual bit I was interested in was only the size of the one-hall-filling Comitia.
Unlike Comitia, this was a doujin convention aimed at fan-works, aka books based on existing anime, manga etc. And, as I don't keep up with current anime or manga, it was all Greek to me. Also, while Comic City is "for women", so is awash with BL / Yaoi / M/M / Slash or whatever the fuck you want to call it, Comic Treasure is "for men", so is full of straight and lesbian smut instead!
I said it occupied two halls, but only used enough space for one for actual comics, so what filled the rest? Well, the front part when you go in was a cosplay shooting area. I think it's well known that the standard of cosplay at Japanese cons is way higher than it is, and they all looked pretty amazing... well, detailed, anyway. Not knowing about 99% of the characters meant I didn't know if they were actually accurate or not, but there was no obvious naffness.

The other half of the other hall was taken up by an otakuishly-modified car show! I beleive this is called "Itasha", but I haven't followed the modded car scene much since Barryboys closed down. Some of the mods were a bit wierd, aside from the usual Lambo doors, Lexarse lights and EMFREEZ. There was even some That Bumper in evidence!
Joining the modded cars were also some modded bikes, of the engine, electric and pedal-powered kind. There was even a modded airsoft gun!
Anyway, being there for the comics, I had a good wander about. I saw a bunch of stuff based on series I don't know or have never heard of. One Piece was much in evidence, and there was some odds and ends based on the FF7 remake, too. I didn't actually get all that much, in the end. Waiting for the next Comitia! At least, unlike Comic City, Comitore doesn't pack up 2-3 hours before it's supposed to end. But, having toured all the tableas and cars, it was tim to be off. I walked back via a local skyscaper, which is not particularly well-occupied (these "city of the future" artificial islands with all-new buildings and no dingy alleys full of bars never seem to be very popular places to live, funny, that), and found there was a little boot sale going on at the bottom of it!
I'd been to that boot sale once, long ago (stumbled on it after doing something at the nearby ATC Centre), and tried looking it up on some website called something Japanese Flea Markets, but had no luck. Well, here it was again, so I picked up a couple of very 80's looking tankobon too. Only ¥50 each, I seem to recall, so actually among the cheapest comics I got that day! Anyway, then it was time for New Tram, Subway and home.
