A list of reviews of various comic conventions I have gone to. I also did a couple of Camcon's and a bunch of MCM's in the teens, but didn't write them up. Except for the ones I DID write up, on my old British Comics blog, then forgot about until 2024, when I dug them up and re-added them here. There were many other MCMs I went to and never wrote about / took pictures at, mind you. |

UK Web & Mini-Comix Thing 2005 The second Thing, and my first con. I think I was sitting in a stationary train at Ely station for longer than I was actually at the event. |
UK Web & Mini-Comix Thing 2006 First exhibiting one! I was trying to sell a (badly) printed version of Scum Slaughter, whilst sharing a table with a girl who made a similar comic that's much better. I didn't do well! Also at the end of the event some middle-class twat, doubtless from some wanky London lifestyle mag, had only just heard about it so came frantically running in to report on this avant-garde art event. Bet he loved my comic! |
Bristol Comic Con 2006 It was actually reet boring, I dunno why I went. And something was beeping away in the hotel all night, so I couldn't sleep. |
UK Web & Mini-Comix Thing 2007 This was one of the best ones, I didn't exhibit though. The yearly anthology was accepting contributions from everybody this year, so it was huge. Made too much of a loss, though, so they only did that once. |
Bristol Comic Con 2007 Why did I go to this again when it was dead boring the first time? Oh yeah, the promise of a huge party the day before. TBH this is more a review of me getting ridiculously drunk and alienating a load of friends (always happens) than it is of a comic convention. |
UK Web & Mini-Comix Thing 2008 A good one, this. It was where I launched the Red, White & Blue! (and even sold a few of them). |
UK Web & Mini-Comix Thing 2010 After a year off I returned with ONE new comic! It turned out to be the last Thing anyway. The next year there was a replacement "Thing" run by somebody else, but that only happened once. |
Birmingham International Comic Show 2010 I don't know if that's it's actual name. A convention I not only forgot I'd written about, but completely forgot I'd even attended! Until I found an old blog entry about it in 2024. Now recreated here! |
London Small Press Expo 2011 The "replacement" for the Thing, run by different people, and hosted in a different venue. Anyway, it only ran once. Also it was the day after the giant earthquake in Japan, so I remember the date well, anyway. |
Spring MCM Expo 2011 An old entry from my comics blog, most of which is being restored and updated as World Comics Review. But I may as well shove this here |
Camcon 2012 The first Camcon. At least the first Camcon organised by Zonic. Apparently there was another event called Camcon in the 80's, but Zonic wasn't even born then. Anyway I was selling so really only saw the dealers' hall all day. |
Spring MCM Expo 2012 The huge event in London, this is the first one I wrote up, but I think the first one I actually went to was in 2010 or 11. |
Autumn MCM Expo 2012 Didn't take anywhere near as many pics of this one, for some reason. Probably because it was freezing. |
Spring MCM Expo 2013 Found a few pictures that bought back memories, so wrote this one up almost 11 years later! |
Kansai Comitia 68 (Oct 2023) And here we are in 2023! Kansai Comitia was the October version, held in picturesque Kyoto. |
Comic City 125 (Jan 2024) Everybody closed up early! |
Comic Treasure 43 (Jan 2024) Lots of cars. Some comics, too. |
Kansai Comitia 69 (Jan 2024) I was only going to be there a hour and not spend much. I failed. |
Yonkoma Komachi 23 (Feb 2024) A small con for "Yonkoma" gag manga. |
Haru Comic City 33 (Mar 2024) A smaller Comic City with lots of hot BL. |
FF6 Prosit! (Apr 2024) A covention dedicated entirely to FF6! ...as a sideshow at a more general classic games / doujinsoft event. But still... |
Comic City 126 (May 2024) Everybody closed up early again, but I had a wander... |
Comic Treasure 44 (Sep 2024) Even more cars than the last one! |
Kansai Comitia 71 (Oct 2024) Broke so only bought a little, but it was fun! |
Super Comic City 30 (Jan 2025) Broke again, but it was a Comic City, so everybody closed up early |
Kansai Comitia 72 & Comic Treasure 45 (Jan 2025) I have money now... and two conventions in one! |
Yonkoma Komachi 25 (Mar 2025) They moved it and didn't tell me! Only a little con, but I got a bit of a haul... after finding it. |
Osaka Fes 2025 (March) Another one where everybody closed up early. I became somewhat wazzed off with such conventions and decided I don't want to go to them any more. It'll save some money, anyway. |
Kansai Comitia 73 (May 2025) Had to budget a bit, but not as badly as some previous occasions! It was a nice con... |
Kansai Comitia 74 (October 2025) Held in Kyoto Pulse Plaza again. I got a bit o' stuff... |
