The Felneyverse - Minor Characters

MINOR CHARACTERS

This page lists various minor characters, who don't really need a full page to themselves. Some of them are known only by their first or last name - this is generally the one used in the comic or story in which they appear. For instance, characters in "everyday" stories will be called by their first names, while characters in "military" stories, like The Gun, have patches giving only their last name. Also, some details, mainly birth and death dates, are missing, because I can't be bothered to make them up.

8th July 2025note: I've started to give this page a new design, and am transitioning the characters over to it. But, in a rare display of sense, the new design doesn't interfere with the old, so I can still have all of the information online and available, even as I work on it! It'll just look a bit wierd.

	My 90's-as-fuck "Rad Rabbit" Sonic ripoff. It was actually set in the same universe as Sonic; Robotnik (FUCK this "Eggman" shit) captured both Sonic and Tails, so Blaster has to rescue them... by going through a bunch of very small levels and fighting bosses which all have "dodge the attacks until they shoot themselves" patterns. Of course I had no way of actually making videogames at the time, so just scribbled level designs on lined paper in tiny notebooks. Actually, no, Sonic was a collaboration between the USA and Japan divisions of Sega, so "Eggman" is no more "the original" than Robotnik is. They're both "the original".

Sergeant's stripes because I knew even less about actual military rankings when I made Battles, than I did when making The Gun. They used to put that sort of thing in Christmas annuals! Anyway, my friend Robert came up with his own leaders of the two sides, but they were both adults (I did write of the Battles conflict being started by two adults, later on!) and way too cartoony. One of his leaders looked like a cross of Spongebob Squarepants (years before that character was invented), and Hank off the Beano strip The Three Bears. He drew the character on a rubber, put it on the table, then draw the tiny arms and legs on the table itself.

	A character from a mooted plasticine animation my brother and I wanted to make. We didn't have any form of video camera capable of making such a thing... but we did make Bob! He lived on a clock for ages, then mysteriously vanished. I even remember our dad commenting on the disappearance.

Are you ready for this? OK, so, when I was little we had two cuddly dogs, which were a big cute head attached (barely) to a "pad" to represent the body. We'd got them from some other relative, there was a chance they dated from the 60's or 70's. There was a brown one and a blue one, the blue one's head had almost fallen off, it was only held by a few bits of cotton, so that one lived in the "repair pile" for mum to fix. The brown one was a character in Teddy Bear World (the game played with actual teddy bears) a fair bit. The name "Buff Buff" comes from the fact my brother had a wind-up toy that played "How Much is That Doggy in the Window", with a "barking" sound, which we thought sounded like an American woman saying "buff buff". Also it was the length of this "origin / inspiration" section that inspired me to redesign the minor characters page to make that section the full width, and not a quarter-width column.

Flame
	This character was first thought up for Cart Wars by my friend Robert, though later I nicked him. Robert's version had really spiky ginger hair, hence the name. Before the other kids at Primary School started pissing about making grand plans for thier Kart Wars, Robert was actually cool with the "no engines" rule, and made a comic strip where Flame puts illegal rocket boosters on his Cart, overtakes everybody, but then loses control and crashes into the guy waving a black flag and explodes. He went to prison for it and, much later, showed up in an "epic" two-page story by me. In the epic he offers to lead a grand procession of carts "advertising" the second season of Cart Wars, but makes some sort of mechanism to make his wheels fall off and cause a huge crash, which will look like an accident. The crash kills him when a huge splinter gets stabbed through him. -Well, about 3 years, but that feels like a long time when you're 13

Flame

Her car is like an F1 car (but able to drive over rough terrain, up ramps, and off jumps) with a "fireball gun" of some description.

FX the Fox
	A character I came up with for Blaster the Bunny. He was based loosely on Fang (later Fang the Sniper) from Sonic R 2 on the Game Gear (also the first Sonic R didn't come out in the west, so my brother and I just had to smugly grin at each other and go "Er, what happened to Sonic R 1?"), which I never had. Later Fang and a bunch of others were in Sonic CD, which we also didn't have, and from there showed up in Sonic The Comic. Anyway FX was like Fang, but with no hat but with a bunch of scars on his face, to look "hardcore". I think he was meant to be a bad guy, but I thought he looked too cool, so decided he'd be a redeemed antihero by the time of the third game. How many of those games actually got made again? Oh, yeah... Also we had a school fete once and I said I'd set up a "drinks stall". I prepared absolutely nothing, so had to drag out a table from the classroom, nick Ribena and water from the school kitchen, and charged people 50p for a small plastic cup. I drew a picture of FX the Fox putting a cup back with a sign saying "Please return all cups", which the teacher said was a good idea. Until she saw me going to to re-use one without washing it. I really had no clue, eh? Still, at least FX got "used" for something. Also there was a bunch of other characters for Blaster the Bunny too, but I've forgot them all.

Gabby Quinton
	A Millennial comics writer / editor / journalist (no conflicts of interest there, then) in the American comics industry. She tells a leading comics journalist that the industry is doing BETTER THAN EVER, even though there's a large community growing up around ridiculing the terrible stories online. Some Youtuber who coughs into his phone as he laughs at terrible comics in his car is getting a much bigger audience than many of the comics, in fact. But never mind, the industry is, in fact, doing so much BETTER THAN EVER that it can't even keep track of it's vast sales figures (which must have reversed dramatically from the steep decline they were previously showing), and stopped publishing them. She then reads, on the news site that she is the source for, that American comics are doing BETTER THAN EVER, and retweets the story as proof. Then a Chinese man coughs, and the entire industry completely shuts down for months. Apparently it was doing so much BETTER THAN EVER that a supply chain disruption can't possibly be worked around by finding alternative sources or the workers masking up and social distancing. You'd think an industry that was making such vast profits with it's BETTER THAN EVER sales would want to continue, eh?

XXXX	Box cart	XXXX	The first Cart Wars strips had all boys as characters, but I decided to add some girls to show off how "good" I was, and "girled up" the driver of the cart called Ice. Only there had been a cart called Ice before, driven by a boy, so I decided he was her big brother. I did a strip explaining this, but I did it at school. I used to draw the panels first, then make up the story to fill them. I walked away after drawing the panels and title, and when I came back my friend had felt-tipped a huge pink swastika in the first one. I was staring at the page for ages as my brain tried to process how it got there.

Jane
	A character from Shag Shack Extreme, a girl of around 8-10 who has as much sex as any of the adults, with people her own age, mind you. Also mostly implied / off screen, as all the women seen in proper sex scenes had giant tits. The pages with her on have now been incinerated (with clincal waste from a lab, no less), as such crude child sex drawings are now considered as bad as the real thing in the UK. Meanwhile the country continues a demographic decline that apparently "needs" to be replaced by mollycoddled people who don't want to learn English and despise us, because the natives (and second and third generation immigrants, for that matter) are too busy working thier fingers to the bone just to keep thier heads above water, to say nothing of thier ever-lengthening commuting times on packed roads or creaking trains, to even think of having children.
